千代松龍図縁起

松は古来御先祖が神木として崇めて来た。
尖った松の葉先に神が降りられると信じて、今尚目出度い樹として正月の飾り物にされている。
千代松龍は松の化身として千年も続く五穀豊穣を見守るものである。
目の赤が南を、墨の黒が北を、松の青が東を、箔の金が西を表している。
更に白地に赤の目が御神体の鏡を意味する。
龍は流れを促して一年の実りを齎すとされている。
千代松龍図を伊勢の神様の御許にお納め致します。

Chiyomatsuryu Zu engi
(dedicated to Ise Shrine)

The pine has been sacred in Japan since the days of our ancestors.
It is believed that gods descend on the prickly ends of the pine leaves, and its branches are used as an auspicious plant used in New Year ornaments.
The Chiyomatsu-ryu is believed to be an incarnation of the pine to watch over harvest for a thousand years.
Its red eyes symbolize the south, black ink represents the north, with the pine green signifying east and gold plate, west.
The red eyes on white also symbolize the sacred mirror.
The dragon is believed to stimulate flow and bring the bounty of the year.
The Chiyomatsutry-zu is dedicated to the gods of Ise. (October 2003)
